The Pilgrim Path---Revelation 21: 5

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

ALL THINGS NEW

The New Heavens and New Earth that the LORD will put in place will be quite amazing. It will literally never grow old. When you get a new car or a new house in this world---it wears out. It becomes dated and worn. This will not be the case with the New Dwelling for the People of God. The One who sits upon the Throne will make “all” things new---they will have such a quality about them---that they will never experience corruption or corrosion. The character of the environment will be such that---if anything, it will only grow more glorious---as we experience it. The reason for this: The One who dwells upon The Throne! He will inhabit this domain with His own (Revelation 21: 3). The sheer radiance of His personal holiness will brighten and energize this incredible sphere of bliss (Revelation 21: 2; John 14: 1, 2; Hebrews 1: 6). The truth that has captured my heart and mind of late has been that one phrase: “all things new.” We slip into weariness. What was, “cutting edge”---has lost its edge. The latest model, the most “up to date” is out of date. But there is coming an age---when for the Followers of The Living Christ, when you will always be right on the cusp! When everything will be as wondrous as wondrous can be---when you are with the Ever Living One: “Who Make All Things New.” The LORD Jesus will settle You---and He will settle all things. No trauma, tiredness, turmoil, trouble with indwelling sin. “All things new…”

“We shall then enjoy him continually. O Christians, our comforts should be more abundant, but we do make a mistake by expecting too much on earth. Our true rest in heaven will be our peace indeed. Looking off to these yet unseen blessings is an eminent part of our faith. It is in the apprehension and expectation of our yet unseen heavenly blessings that our earthly peace and safety depend. O that Christians were careful to live with one eye on Christ crucified, and the other on his glory!” Richard Baxter

“If there were millions of worlds, and as many heavens full of men and angels, Christ would not be pinched to supply all our wants. Christ is a well of life, but who knows how deep it is to the bottom? O have little of him, yet long for more. God has made many fair flowers, but the fairest is heaven, and the flower of all flowers is Christ. One year’s time in heaven shall swallow up all sorrows beyond all comparison. Christ Jesus is the end of your journey; there is no fear, you may look death in the face with joy.” Samuel Rutherford

“I am proud in prosperity and forget God, growing secure and careless. I am impatient under the cross and too often worry about my disappointments. O dear Father, forgive me for my unthankfulness, the love of the world, and contempt of all your heavenly benefits. Grant me your Holy Spirit to illuminate the eyes of my mind with the light and living knowledge of your presence, power, wisdom, and goodness. Inflame my affections, that I may desire nothing on earth but you, and to be present with you. I pray, give me these things in your good time.” John Bradford

There they need no sunshine bright, in that city four-square;

For the Lamb is all the light, and there is no night there.

God shall wipe away all tears; there’s no death, no pain, no fears;

And they count not time by years, for there is no night there.

John R. Clements, 1868-1946
