The Pilgrim Path---Matthew 23: 23, 24 (1—8—25)
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill, and cumin and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!
“…STRAINING OUT A GNAT”
Camel swallowing has always been popular: allegiance to some outward religious forms---to the neglect of justice, equity and fairness for our fellowmen. The Lord Jesus Christ said giving a tenth of our garden herbs was some kind of scrupulosity---But where’s our attention to the ongoing practice of righteousness in all our affairs? Please help us--- Precious Holy Spirit--- to watch our diet in 2025. We do not want to swallow too many camels…
From Isaac Watts: True religion is in the heart and spirit, and not in outward forms. Here the Christian receives his praise from God and not man!
From John Duncan: My neighbor’s good is my good…love makes it so.
