The Pilgrim Path

The Pilgrim Path---First Peter 5: 10, 11

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

“…A LITTLE WHILE”

Suffering times for the people of God can be grievous. We may wonder if they will ever end. The Holy Spirit mentions that the woes are of short duration---a little while. We may so focus on the pains and problems that we do not even look at Him. We always must go back to The Word in humility and submission. In the sacred texts we are reminded that He knows. The Father is working to conform us to Jesus Christ. Our sinfulness often makes this a hard process. We learn to trust and obey.

From Charles Haddon Spurgeon: It is no use to hope that we shall be well rooted if no rough winds pass over us. Those old gnarling’s on the root of the oak tree, and those strange twisting’s of the branches, all tell of the many storms that have swept over it, and they are also indicators of the depth into which the roots have found their way. So the Christian is made strong, and firmly rooted by all the trials and storms of life. Shrink not then from the tempestuous winds of trial, but take comfort, believing that by their rough discipline God is fulfilling this benediction to you.

From Thomas Case: Persevere to be taught by God, that you might be holy as he is holy.
