The Pilgrim Path

The Pilgrim Path---Hebrews 11: 7 (10—8—24)

By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

“IN REVERENT FEAR CONSTRUCTED AN ARK”

Noah had no idea he was going to be a shipbuilder. This was added to his resume---along with being a preacher of righteousness for many decades. Seems there was no large body of water near his shipyard. No major flood events had been recorded by local meteorologists. The only thing that was rising: the wickedness of men. Jehovah-Jesus had a time set for judgment and Noah was faithful to follow the word of The Master. Noah wasn’t perfect---but he displayed amazing perseverance in the face of a pagan culture. This is what we do for Jesus Christ and the good of souls. We love and labor on. One step at a time…

From Thomas Manton: The important issues of life can only be discerned by faith. In our immediate experience we cannot see beyond death. Faith must step in and believe in heaven though it is yet unseen. Graceless souls may be sharp concerning their temporal interests but concerning things of the next world they are stark blind. The whole business of Christianity contradicts sense. We give up the visible for invisible rewards. We do not look at the things that are seen, but unseen.

From Ezekiel Hopkins: We ought to use the things of the world only that we might arrive at the Creator. We may use them for our benefit, but we must alone enjoy him.
