The Pilgrim Path---Proverbs 11: 2 (2—7—25)
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.
“…BUT WITH THE HUMBLE IS WISDOM”
The long-term results of pride will be harmful. The price---terrible in marriage, government, at work, at church, in neighborhoods---in families. Arrogance may breed money and power in the short-term---but in the end comes disgrace…
Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” First Peter 5: 5b
From Thomas Manton: The way to rise is to fall.
From William Gurnall: A humble spirit loves a low seat.
From Thomas Watson: Till we are poor in spirit we are not capable of receiving grace.
From Vance Havner: Humility is not thinking meanly of oneself, but rather it means not thinking of oneself at all.
