The Pilgrim Path---Psalm 10

Please grab your Bible and read this Psalm. I've provided some thoughts on the verses. Ralph Davis says not many people may pick this Psalm as their favorite. But as you make your way through you are reminded of the grand benefits of God's Word. It is a stark reminder of reality. The Bible does deal with the awesome tensions of life. Isn't that why we love it so? The God behind it all---asks us to trust Him.

Please consider these notes:

---v. 1---Why so far off Lord? Especially with times so troublesome?

---v. 2---Wicked people spew hell everywhere. May some of that ash---blow in their faces...

---v. 3---Wicked ones boast---curse! They hold the LORD in contempt...

---v. 4---Wicked ones say, "There is NO God"---That is the sum of their existence...

---v. 5---Wicked folk are always succeeding. LORD, your ways are just too high for them...

---v. 6---Wicked people think, "I will never be moved---never be in trouble"

---v. 7---Wicked ones have such a mouth on them: cursing / oppressing / deceiving---what mouths...

---v. 8---Wicked ones plot about "taking" the innocent / the unfortunate (even their very lives)

---v. 9---Wicked ones "lurk" like lions ready to grab the lowly...

---v. 10---Wicked ones are just "watching" for the unprotected...

---v. 11---Wicked ones say, "God has forgotten---he never sees"

---v. 12---Whoa LORD! Please stop such woe! Please lift up your hand and stop such hurt...

---v.13---WHY? Why should the wicked man hold God in contempt? Why should the wicked man say in his heart that God won't track such wickedness down?

---v. 14---Well, LORD---You have seen all mischief and wrong. The unprotected abandons himself to YOU...

---v. 15---We leave the wicked and evil to You---ultimately---their wickedness and evil will be no more...

---v. 16---We acknowledge LORD---You are King forever! ALL will one day say so! Some will perish---who do not acknowledge your Lordship...their torment will last forever...

---v. 17---We know LORD---You will hear the cries of the suffering: you will settle their hearts--- and bend down your ear to them...

---v. 18---We know--- O LORD---You will ultimately put all things right for the orphan and the one who is crushed. You will see to it that the wicked will not strike terror on the earth any more.

Quite the Psalm? But then, quite the world? Ole David doesn't get all the "why" questions answered from verse 13---neither do we. We are in a fallen world. We pray and work for justice and righteousness. We attempt to be agents of Gospel Good wherever the Lord Jesus Christ places us (James 1: 27). We always remember that our Savior never committed wrong---yet He was wronged---and took all our wrongs---upon Himself. Hero of the Ages. We may---and must---abandon ourselves to Him---as verse 14 would indicate. He will sort everything out. Plus, we have all eternity ahead. We have to stop thinking like "this" time is all that matters...Eternity is ahead...A New Heavens and A New Earth...
