The Pilgrim Path---John 17:24 (5--20--20)

"Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world."

Ravi Zacharias died yesterday (74). Well known evangelist and Christian apologist, his ministry covered almost half a century. A rare form of cancer took him from his labors here---into the presence of the Savior. He has left the Church Militant (fighting the world, the flesh, and the devil)---to enter the Church Triumphant (the Heavenly Zion: no pain, no tears---The World of Love).

He ministered in well over 70 countries. Prolific author. Captivating speaker. He leaves the world a ministry (RZIM), that promotes witnessing, discipling, and engaging the sharpest minds anywhere---with God's truth.

Ravi Zacharias never claimed to be perfect, but he made sure you knew that Jesus Christ "is" the perfection of God---and that you may be knit to Him---if you humble yourself and yield to Him in faith and repentance.

This seemed a good time to share some Zacharias quotes:

"We all want Canaan without going through the wilderness."

"Truth that is not undergirded by love makes the truth obnoxious and the possessor of it repulsive."

"An expenditure of words without income of ideas will lead to intellectual bankruptcy."

"Television has been the single greatest shaper of emptiness."

"Success is more difficult to handle than failure."

"Many Christians have so busied themselves with programs and activities that they no longer know how to be silent and meditate on God's Word or recognize the mysteries that are in the person of Christ."

"Sometimes the very presence of God is barred by our presuppositions and our intense and constant desire for triumphant."

"God made appointments with us in our disappointments. To see the pattern we must take three steps involving the heart, the mind, and the cross."

"In today's society, looking good and feeling good often trumps doing good and being good. And some people don't know the difference anymore."

"Only God is able to humble us without humiliating us and to exalt us without flattering us."

"Goodness can endure a few moments; holiness is life-defining."

"The farther we move from God, the more we devalue man."

"Having killed God, the atheist is left with no reason for being, no morality to espouse, no meaning to life, and no hope beyond the grave."

"Only through repentance and faith in Christ can anyone be saved. No religious activity will be sufficient, only true faith in Jesus Christ alone."

"To allow God to be God we must follow Him for who He is and what He intends, and not for what we want and what we prefer."

"Once we understand Jesus in His "own" words and measure His claims and promises against our deepest needs, we will be surprised at just how personal and magnificent He really is."
