The Pilgrim Path (6-21-2020)

The Pilgrim Path---Psalm 127: 3-5

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Even if you are not a Dad, we bless all the godly men! We pray for them and ask the LORD to use them mightily in their sphere of influence. They are very much needed in our culture. In such a time of confusion and moral chaos, men who know and love the Living Christ, are desperately required to be salt and light in this land in which we live. May you receive a double portion of the Holy Spirit, that you might continue your walk for the Savior with delight and perseverance for the rest of 2020!

My own father had a difficult time. His own father left he and his brother when he was around 10 years of age. This does incalculable damage to people. Some rise above it. Yet, for most the scars are deep and long lasting. Sadly, our society is full of such stories. You may genuinely give thanks to Almighty God if you grew up in a stable home---with both parents (and they both cared for you / and for each other). We rejoice that the Gospel begins to bring healing and wholeness to broken hearts and broken people. Step into the fullness that “is” had in the invitation of the God-Man. “Come to Me and find true comfort for your weary soul---guidance for your fractured life.”

BLESSING FOR THE FATHERS:

Dear God, I give thanks for fathers.

I recognize the dedication and patience it takes to be a source---

Of compassion and understanding when helping to shape a young life.

Bless all fathers, especially those who are new in this sacred role.

I pray they feel Your presence with them.

May they know your strength and wisdom are within them---

Providing all they need to guide and support their children with kindness and love.

In the Great and Holy Name of Jesus Who loves Us. Amen.

O give us homes with godly fathers, mothers,

Who always place their hope and trust in him;

Whose tender patience turmoil never bothers,

Whose calm and courage trouble cannot dim;

A home where each finds joy in serving others,

And love still shines, though days be dark and grim.
