The Pilgrim Path---First Corinthians 15: 3--5

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.

ETERNAL REDEMPTION!

“In the day of salvation, Christ comes into the soul, and he does not come empty handed, but brings all the treasures of his wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Troops of mercies, yea, the best of mercies come with him.” John Flavel

“What a high favor that God allows us to love him and embrace him with arms that have embraced lust and sin before him! But this is not all---He returns love for love and a thousand times more. Christian, believe this and think on it; you will be eternally embraced in the arms of everlasting love. The love that brought the Son from heaven to earth, from the earth to the cross, from the cross to the grave, from the grave to glory…” Richard Baxter

“We can examine ourselves in the light of Scripture, and if we do that we shall be driven to Christ. But with introspection a man looks at himself and continues to do so and refuses to be happy until he gets rid of the imperfections that are still there. Oh, the tragedy that we should spend our lives looking at ourselves instead of looking at HIM who can set us free.” Martin Lloyd-Jones

“God’s gifts put man’s dreams to shame.” Elizabeth Barrett Browning

“Your approval before God is woven into the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross, not what other men and women think about you.” Matt Chandler

“As the Early Church Fathers delighted in saying, Christ took what was ours so that we might receive what was His.” Sinclair B. Ferguson

“He is no fool who parts with that which he cannot keep, when he is sure to be recompensed with that which he cannot lose.” Philip Henry

“There is no way under heaven to be interested in Christ, but by believing. He that believeth shall be saved, let his sins, be ever so great; and he that believeth not shall be damned, let his sins be ever so little.” Thomas Brooks

“Christians can be confident about their growth in sanctification and eternal security because they are confident in the God who promises it.” John Owen

“…Christ’s salvation must be a gift. He ‘purchased’ it for us at the high price of his own lifeblood so what is there left for us to pay? Nothing! Since he claimed that all was now ‘finished,’ there is NOTHING for us to contribute.” John Stott

“I am not the man I ought to be, I am not the man I wish to be, and I am not the man I hope to be, but by the grace of God, I am not the man I used to be. “ John Newton

“If you should see a man shut up in a closed room, idolizing a set of lamps and rejoicing in their light, and you wished to make him truly happy, you would begin by blowing out all his lamps; and then throw open the shutters to let in the light of heaven.” Samuel Rutherford

“We are made up of wants---of wants as creatures, and deeper wants as sinners---but for all our wants there is in HIM all riches.” John Duncan

“Behold our God! Behold Christ! He is the Mediator between God and humanity. He puts on human nature that He may lead humanity to the Father. What humanity is, Christ was willing to be, that humanity may become what Christ is.” St. Cyprian of Carthage

For nothing good have I whereby your grace to claim---

I’ll wash my garments white in the blood of Calvary’s Lamb.

Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow.

Elvina M. Hall, 1865
