The Pilgrim Path(1-1-2022)

The Pilgrim Path---Second Peter 3: 8 (1—1—22)

“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the LORD one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

“WITH THE LORD…”

From St. Gregory of Nyssa (335—394): Nothing in creation that has come into existence, or is now coming into existence, can be outside of space or time. But God, who is all-sufficient, eternal, and encircles the universe. Is neither in space or time. He’s before and above them, in a way we can’t comprehend. He’s self-contained and can be known by faith alone…In Him, as John says, all things are created (John 1: 3-4); each of us lives, moves, and has individual being in Him (Acts 17: 28). He’s beyond all origin, revealing nothing of His inmost essence; we can know Him only as the One we cannot know! This is His unique characteristic, that His essence is too exalted for any distinctive attribute…When we explain the nature of creation, our explanation has no application to the Creator Himself, since His nature doesn’t share in creation’s attributes. He soars above the marks of time; in Him there’s no before, no after; and none of the dimensions of space are found in Him.

My---my, and this God makes Himself “real” to us in the glorious mission and ministry of the God-Man, Jesus Christ the LORD! No wonder the Scripture tells us that the holy angels find the redemption He has wrought “fascinating”---and like to look into this marvel (I Peter 1: 12).

The God and Father of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ---along with the Son and the Spirit, sit “atop” the ages. We need not be afraid. We do not “see” what is ahead---but we know HE is working all things after the counsel of HIS own will…

As the Year 2022 begins,

---Place your trust in the Living Christ

---Place your feet on His Path (The Bible shows us where to walk)

---Place your mouth by His ear in prayer (He loves His Own)

From John Duncan: Some one passage of Scripture, often the essence of some hundred unconnected texts, is given as a remedy to the diseased soul.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11: 28
