The Pilgrim Path (1—16—23)

The Pilgrim Path---Proverbs 1: 29 – 33 (1—16—23)

Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD, would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices.

For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.

“…KILLED BY THEIR TURNING AWAY”

It occurred to me that Ahab, Hophni and Phinehas (Eli’s sins---I Samuel 2: 12)---and Judas were within the covenant community of Israel---why, Judas was even close to Jesus. But physical proximity does not denote spiritual closeness or change…

There are people who hear---without ever “hearing” the TRUTH. The precious Holy Spirit of God must open your heart to hear and receive Jesus Christ the LORD---the One Who “is” The Wisdom and Knowledge of God---otherwise, you simply “eat the fruit of your own way” (v. 31). Aren’t you grateful the LORD gave you the taste of LIFE in Jesus? Please come Holy Spirit in a most manifest manner upon these spiritually dead souls about us---that they may know what it is to live securely (v. 33) in the Prince of LIFE.

From John Duncan: The scheme of salvation is entirely supernatural.

From Charles Haddon Spurgeon: My faith rests not upon what I am, or shall be, or feel, or know, but in what Christ is, in what He has done, and in what he is now doing for me.

From Thomas Boston: Admire the matchless love that brought you out of wrath. He brought you into his palace on the day you might have been led forth to execution. Be wholly his and do not think lightly of sin.
