The Pilgrim Path (1—18—23)

The Pilgrim Path---Isaiah 40: 6 – 7 (1—18—23)

A voice says, “Cry!” And I said, “What shall I cry?”

All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.

The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the LORD blows on it; surely the people are grass.

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

“…WILL STAND FOREVER”

The Bible teaches us about what is real. The Bible deals with facts about our existence. As the Word of God---it tells us what is legitimate and right. What a gift from Heaven! However, the story of human history--- is that people tell the world things---in religion, business, politics, education---virtually every area of human endeavor---to merely promote themselves. We always must beware of those with an inaccurate message. They may seem popular, even biblical at first---but we must ask, “Do they represent Jesus Christ?” You remember the Savior was asked, “What is the most significant commandment?” Jesus said, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, mind---and strength---AND the second greatest commandment---is like unto it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” It seems quite a few people who claim to deal with the “facts”---don’t deal with reality at all. To the Word and to the Testimony!

From John Duncan: Oh, what a blessing to think that the unfolding as well as the inspiration of Scripture is by Christ.

From St. John Chrysostom: If you want to learn anything, you can learn it from the Scriptures.

From John Owen: What we are and what we do; all is answerable to the Word of God; and so far are we holy and no further.
