The Pilgrim Path (1—23—23)

The Pilgrim Path---Isaiah 40: 15 – 19 (1—23—23)

Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.

Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering.

All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.

To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?

An idol! A craftsman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and casts for it silver chains.

“…LIKE A DROP FROM A BUCKET”

We are not to suppose that the LORD God Almighty disregards the nations---or has no concern for them. Oh no, HE made His Only Son a missionary to reach them (John 3:16). Yet, no nation would be a match for Him. No one of them or group of them---may thwart His Holy purposes. He is God and there is no other. Even nations that are supposedly closed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ---cannot keep the MESSAGE from the LORD’S elect. It still comes in saving power. Kill the converts, and the blood of the martyr’s becomes the “seed” of the Church. No man can hinder the work of King Jesus…

He led in safety through the flood

The people of his choice,

He turned the sea to solid ground;

In him let us rejoice,

In him let us rejoice.

He rules forever by his might,

His eyes the nations try;

Let not the proud, rebellious ones

Exalt themselves on high,

Exalt themselves on high.

Psalm 66: 1 – 7 / The Psalter, 1912
