“For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

“…ASHAMED OF ME”

A shocking text: ashamed of Jesus? Unbelievers are not ashamed of the Living Christ. Sometimes we who belong to Him are ashamed. All sorts of reasons. Fear of being odd. Embarrassment. We don’t measure ourselves adequate to the moment, to relate the Savior in a meaningful and clear way. We simply think there are “too many of sin’s struggles within us” to be used of God in such a manner (we are ashamed).

In an age of conspiratorial loons, political hucksters, religious deceivers, business frauds, social media quacks, and talking heads with no soul-fabric---following Jesus Christ and speaking His word in a humble manner still carries weight. We do this as salt and light. We do this out of love for God and the souls of people. We cannot change people, but we ask the Holy Spirit to use the Word of God within the lives of hearers. The Sword of the Spirit still makes an impact!
