The Pilgrim Path (2-23-2022)

The Pilgrim Path---Proverbs 10: 28 – 30

The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.

The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers.

The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.

“…THE WICKED WILL PERISH”

---The Followers of Jesus Christ have a certainty about life and their future--- that unbelievers do not and cannot grasp. In this age of wars and rumors of war, the Living Savior is establishing an everlasting Kingdom that surpasses bloodshed and greed, malice, and vice. His Kingdom will have no end (Daniel 7: 13, 14; Revelation 11: 15). Invest in the Kingdom while you have opportunity! These investments “pay” eternal dividends.

---The LORD’S path is a stronghold for His Own. Come what may---we know we are secure “in” the Ever Living One. We know He gives the BEST honors, and His rewards are perfect and eternal in their duration. There are Christians in North Korea and within Muslim dominated nations that remind themselves of this each day. The disciples of the Living Christ are often asked to “demonstrate” to the watching world that their confidence rests in Jesus the LORD---and in HIS ultimate realities (Hebrews 11: 14 – 16). Pray for those brothers and sisters around the globe that suffer because of their allegiance to Jesus Christ our Master.

---The Righteous will not be moved: They will stand in the congregation of the blessed (Psalm 1: 5, 6), because the LORD “sees” them in the righteousness of His Holy Son Jesus. Sadly, the “only” property the wicked are concerned about would be-- what is on the Tax Rolls at the local Court House. Heaven, and the Judgment seem foolishness to them---until it is too late to be concerned! Hmmm---What Do You possess that neither Death nor the World can “take” from You? Pray for faith and repentance for those within your sphere of influence---those yet dead in their sins. The fact that they are “not” in hell, is proof that God is yet gracious toward them.

From Thomas Brooks: Many say there is no hell and multitudes think hell is false and fabulous. They will not believe there is a hell until they come to feel themselves in hell and find everlasting flames of fire and brimstone about them…

From Thomas Watson: There is no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8: 1). If you are in Christ, he has put the garment of his righteousness over you. Repentance and trust in the blood of Christ will quench the fire of hell so that it shall never kindle upon you!

From John Duncan: The inheritance is not of our procuring nor of our keeping; he who procured it for us keeps it for us.

From John Flavel: Outward dispensations of sad providence cannot be interpreted as a sign of God’s hatred or enmity: his heart is full of love while his face of providence is full of frowns! In all these providences, God will do us good (Romans 8: 28).

HYMN

Come to the savior now, he gently calleth thee;

In true repentance bow, before him bend the knee;

He waiteth to bestow salvation, peace and love,

True joy on earth below, a home in heaven above.

Come to the Savior now, ye who have wandered far;

Renew your solemn vow, for his by right you are;

Come, like poor wand ‘ring sheep returning to his fold;

His arm will safely keep, his love will ne’er grow cold.
