The Pilgrim Path (3-13-23)

The Pilgrim Path---Romans 8: 38, 39 (3-13-23)

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

“WILL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US…”

Not long ago I mentioned to an acquaintance of mine that death is not to be feared---for the Believer in Christ--- it provides a most glorious transition. Though my buddy has been “in” church for most of his adult life---he was not so sure. A tragic position. He tilts toward a theological persuasion that embraces perfectionism. Spurgeon said he had neighbors like that---he just wished they would “return” the garden tools they had borrowed (ha!). When my pal showed some reluctance to real certainty about death, I saw my opportunity. I just told him, “The glory of the Gospel is that the righteousness of Jesus Christ is conveyed to sinners like US---by grace through faith. We turn from our sin---to Jesus. We run from sin’s mastery---to the Lordship and deliverance of Jesus Christ! In doing so---We receive Eternal Life!” This man needed to hear this. Jesus settles eternity---we trust HIM---and then we live for Eternity in time!

Death may be faced--- as the passage that leads to the Living Christ. Quite a few people have been in Church their entire lives---and yet death is a terrible foe--- that they are unprepared to face. What will death be for YOU?

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6: 23

From Richard Sibbes: For all the enjoyments we have here, we shall have better friends, and we shall go to God and an innumerable company of angels. It is a blessed change for the better in every way. A better place, a better company, a better employment, better liberty, all better! All is ours! We die to be born to happiness…
