The Pilgrim Path (3—24—23)

The Pilgrim Path---Ecclesiastes 11: 1, 2 (3—24—23)

“Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth.”

“CAST YOUR BREAD UPON THE WATERS…”

This is strange imagery. In an ancient culture, the exhortation “fling your precious bread upon the waters,” would seem an incredible waste---right? Yet, the Holy Spirit says---you will find a return of sorts---after time. Hmmm---On the face, the word is: Don’t be cheap. Don’t be a miser. Give---in Jesus’ Holy Name!

Let me encourage You to remember Faith Promise Giving. It is a BIG part of our Church Missions Program. We “give” 10% of our General Fund directly to Missions---then we count on You--- to take an active part---over and above your tithes and offerings---in Faith Promise Giving. It “is” a faith endeavor---a soul enriching experience! ALSO---as you may be able: every contribution matters at Beaver Run. YOU and yours----may be ok---but I remind you, there are quite a few children in our County that live “at”---or below the poverty line. The needs are immense---and the cost of things---my---shockingly out of reach for many…

Thank You for investing for time and eternity!

From Walt Kaiser, Jr.: Instead of becomingly miserly just because you fear that the future may hold some evil reversal of fortunes, leaving you in poverty and want, you should all the more distribute to as many as possible so that you can have the blessing of receiving in the event of such reverses. In fact, says Proverbs 19: 17, “The one who had pity on the poor lends to the Lord; and that which he gives will be paid back again.”

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6: 19 – 21
