The Pilgrim Path (4—21—23)

The Pilgrim Path---Psalm 63: 5 – 8 (4—21—23)

My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,

When I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.

My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

“AND MEDITATE ON YOU…”

Make time, take time---to think long and hard upon Jesus our Savior. The Holy Spirit longs to assist us in this sacred task. Ask His gracious strength and care. He knows how frail we are---and how easily distracted we may become. We have our being in Him. All that we do of any lasting benefit for ourselves---and others---originates in Him. He has been our support. He will support us. We simply need to yield to Him in all things. I don’t need to control everyone and everything (that is God’s Job). I may simply cling to Him. Pride and insecurity make me think that I must take God’s job away from Him. Forgive me LORD. Forgive us ALL…

From Thomas Brooks: A little will satisfy the humble soul, but nothing will satisfy a proud man’s lusts…The proud are never content…

From Jack Miller: The main difference between a strong Christian and a weak one is that the latter is hiding things in her heart that she doesn’t want to get rid of, and the former, the stronger Christian, is the one who opens the door and invites God in to clean house. It’s that simple.
