The Pilgrim Path (6-7-2023)

The Pilgrim Path---Colossians 3: 9, 10

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed after the image of its creator.

“DO NOT LIE TO ONE ANOTHER…”

If you tell the truth, you do not have to worry about being embarrassed by lies. You will not have to “keep” a spread sheet---to keep up with your distortions. Of course, you must learn about tact (look it up). You don’t need to tell parents their child is odd looking---or---tell your neighbors you think the flowers they put on their porch are atrocious. Learn something about humility---and holding your tongue. But ask the Holy Spirit to help you be a person who trades in the truth. Ours is the age of gibberish---mumbo jumbo. Fake it---even in so-called spiritual settings. Be honest with God---and yourself. Be honest about your vows (marriage & church). Shock the world---don’t make excuses at work: take responsibility. Call your sin what it is---and turn from it. Don’t live your life plotting how you are going to control everyone and everything (The Holy Spirit does marvelous work). Find joy in the freedom King Jesus gives HIS Own. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Lose your life-- in HIM and HIS purpose. He desires that we find rest in HIS choice---and comfort in HIS truth…

From Samuel Rutherford: His cross is the sweetest burden that ever I bare; it is such a burden as wings are to a bird, or sails to a ship, to carry me forward to my harbor.

From Jack Miller: You do not have a small God or a small salvation. The message we need today is that we are weak. This awareness is good if it drives us to God’s strength. It is there that we find grace, and once we find it, we are called to surrender to it, to cooperate with it, and to let it flow through us…
