The Pilgrim Path (7-12-2023)

The Pilgrim Path---Luke 5: 12 – 16

While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. And he charged him to tell no one, but “go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for proof to them.” But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places.

“…HE WOULD WITHDRAW”

The Lord Jesus was busy. However, when we read the Gospels, we do not get the idea that He was in a hurry---just on the move, “accomplishing His Father’s business.” No doubt, the days were long: healing, helping, and teaching. Yet He had to have time with the Father. He spent time with Him. Seems the Savior would have reflected upon The Word (He quoted it enough to others---as The Living Word). He is the living demonstration of the necessity to keep going to The Father--- while we are “in” this world. This is “how” we honor The One who made us for Himself. This is “how” we are refreshed and renewed---in these desolate places (time alone with Him).

From John Duncan: Two things make us very enlarged in prayer---deep feeling of need and enlarged and strong hope of supply.

From John Flavel: The Lord means to perform the mercies we desire, yet he will ordinarily exercise our patience to wait for them.
