The Pilgrim Path (9-27-2023)

The Pilgrim Path---Matthew 18: 1 – 4

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

“…THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?”

The easy and natural path is for me to elevate myself. To listen primarily to self. The LORD Jesus says this is not the Kingdom Way. I must bow to Him. I must die to self in order to live. Only the Holy Spirt enables and empowers this kind of living. Help me (help us all) Precious Spirit of God to learn more about child-like humility before King Jesus. The Savior loves to lead and favor compliant children. Thanks be to God!

From Jon Bloom: In seeking to be gods and goddesses, we learn to only value what magnifies our glory or satisfies our appetites. We yawn at the Grand Canyon and fawn at the mirror.

From Richard Baxter: It is a contradiction to be a true Christian and not be humble.

From D. L. Moody: The beginning of greatness is to be little; the increase of greatness is to be less; the perfection of greatness is to be nothing.

From Charles Wesley: Keep us little and unknown, prized and loved by God alone.
