I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.

I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

“IN THE NIGHT ALSO…”

You may “go” to bed and your mind may resist sleep. The press of tomorrow may just be too much. It seems there is more month than there is money. The doctor has once again told you what you did not want to hear. And the pharmacist gave you the price of a prescription---which you found unbelievable. And then---a child? How could they live and speak in a manner so contrary to all you tried to teach them? My, my---darkness---but must darkness cover your soul? King David tells us that the LORD gave him counsel in the night. And we have to realize that the instruction came from beyond the depths of David’s own heart. The counsel came from who God is---and from the glory of God’s Word. Think long and hard on this…

We have more of Holy Scripture than King David possessed. So---as I have about strangled myself with fear, I remember the LORD Jesus telling me that if the Father “cares” for birds---HE will tend to me---for the elect (all of us) are more precious than birds. The LORD “is” our chosen portion---and we do have a beautiful inheritance. HE will get us home---as HIS Children. And the promise is---at HIS right hand are pleasures that are out of this world. Use the Word of King Jesus and His Apostle’s to put your mind at ease in the night. Take some time to pray for others---as their concerns flood into your heart…
